  1. Hitron Modem Gets DOCSIS 3.1 Cert

Hitron Technologies says its CODA-45 modem, powered by Intel's (NASDAQ:INTC) Puma 7 chipset, has received DOCSIS 3.1 certification from CableLabs . The company says the certification is the first for any modem powered by the Puma 7 system on chip (SOC). "Our CODA modem with this state-of-the-art Intel chipset is the perfect choice for service providers who want to leverage their investments in DOCSIS 3.1 infrastructure, improve network efficiency and scalability, as well as meet consumers' expectations for faster broadband networks," said Patrick Chiu, president, Hitron Americas & Europe business unit. The modem is designed for up to 5 Gbps downstream over multi-carrier OFDM channels bonded with 32 single-carrier QAM channels and up to 1 Gbps upstream throughput via DOCSIS 3.1. It features two GigE ports designed to deliver 1.97 Gbps for home networking, IPv6 support, consumer installation capability, and operator control via configuration file and SNMP. Hitron demonstrated the CODA modem at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in September.
