  1. Triunfos tecnológicos en las Olimpíadas

    Las Olimpíadas 2016 tuvieron eventos memorables de victorias y derrotas, nuevos récords mundiales y muestras de atletismo que nos dejaron sorprendidos. También se podría decir que hubo muestras de tecnología increíbles. En Brasil, Globosat y NET tuvieron el objetivo de producir y transmitir el 100 % de los eventos en vivo por TV paga regular junto con distribución IP. Para NET (un proveedor de televisión con más del 50 % del mercado brasileño), el 90 % de los juegos se transmitieron por 16 canales, con 40 canales IP adicionales entregados a dispositivos de múltiples formatos de pantalla y cajas decodificadoras híbridas. Esta es la primera vez que NET utilizó DVB e IP para sus servicios de transmisión en vivo, incluyendo una transmisión dedicada experimental en 4K. Del lado de Globosat, se convirtió en uno de los primeros en lanzar SMPTE 2022-6 (SDI sobre IP). Globosat realizó la posproducción para NET, la cual utilizó las soluciones de Elemental Techologies para procesar en la nube. Entre otras noticias de las Olimpíadas: Imagine Communications proveyó a Dega Broadcast Systems de su enrutador Platinum IP3 para que lo utilicen en las instalaciones construidas por Dega para la BBC en Río. Los juegos en Río fijaron un récord de transmisión en vivo. Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) y NBCUniversal reportaron que la retransmisión en vivo de las Olimpíadas alcanzaron los 1,05 mil millones de minutos el 10 de agosto. Esto es un 232 % más que el día equivalente en 2012. NBC Olympics proveyó de cobertura mediante realidad virtual de los juegos a usuarios autenticados de teléfonos inteligentes Samsung Galaxy compatibles mediante la aplicación NBC Sports. La cobertura incluyó aproximadamente 85 horas de programación por video.
