At CES 2017 in Las Vegas, NETGEAR (NASDAQ: NTGR ) has introduced two Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA )-approved retail modems, one in DOCSIS 3.0 and the other in DOCSIS 3.1. The CM1000 Ultra High Speed Cable Modem is the 3.1 version and can be used by Comcast residential subscribers for gigabit Internet services where Comcast has rolled out DOCSIS 3.1, including Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Detroit and Miami. Comcast plans to bring DOCSIS 3.1-based gigabit Internet speeds to more markets in coming months. "It is a pleasure to be a part of Comcast's rollout of the world's first DOCSIS 3.1 gigabit cable Internet service. This truly marks the dawn of a new era for fast cable Internet services into the home," said David Henry, senior vice president of Home Networking Products for NETGEAR. "It is thrilling to be part of writing this new page of Internet history and provide Comcast subscribers with the equipment they will need to fully utilize the new Gigabit connectivity.
